Books SAIMAAN KÄYNTISATAMAT and VENEILYKESÄ

For a boat tourist Finland has a lot to offer besides the Archipelago and the coast line. The vast lake areas provide stunning sceneries and friendly services even in the smallest of towns with interesting and entertaining summer events and happenings. The main lake area, the Finnish lakeland consists of the waterways of Vuoksi, Kymijoki and Kokemäenjoki (see the map). Finnish Maritime Administration publishes chart series for navigating in the lakeland area, but the information about its visit harbours are not included in them.

Instead, Päijätmark Ky publishes three visit harbour guides: Saimaan käyntisatamat for the waterway of Vuoksi and Veneilykesä (only in Finnish) for the waterways of Kymijoki and Kokemäenjoki. The books present visit, guest and excursion harbours with approaching instructions, service information, coordinates etc. Saimaan käyntisatamat is compiled into the same format as Käyntisatamat-Besökshamnar. Lake Saimaa can be entered from the Gulf of Finland through the Saimaa canal, for which Saimaan käyntisatamat gives specific instructions in English, German, Finnish and Swedish.
